Centres of Excellence; Wimbledon School of English ranks number one in the UKBritish Council inspectors’ top institutions revealed in the EL GazetteA full list of British Council accredited schools with the most Points of Excellence has been published in the April EL Gazette. Among these ‘centres of excellence’ are three QE schools. Wimbledon School of English is awarded a fantastic NINE Points of Excellence more than any other school in the UK. They are closely followed by the Lake School of English in Oxford with SIX Points of Excellence, and The English Language Centre, Brighton and Hove with FIVE. None of these centres included any areas the inspectors thought had a ‘need for improvement’, emphasising that they are truly excellent. The EL Gazette is at pains to point out that this cannot be a definitive ‘league table’ but it is certainly the closest there has ever been. Relying solely on publishable statements schools cannot tell their agents about all the other very strong points in their accreditation reports. Many of these reports are full of praise and detail that any agent would be eager to read. For now though, Points of Excellence are our guide to quality, and QE is delighted that three of our schools are in the top echelons. Date Added: March 17 2010 |

![]() Education South Africa hosts Fam Trip for IALCA AgentsIn November 2009, member schools of Education South Africa (EduSA) collaborated in hosting an Italian Agent FAM Trip. These schools were EC, Eurocentres, Good Hope Studies, Inlingua, Interlink, IH, Kurus, LAL and Shane Global. Six agents and three journalists from Italy visited Cape Town, South Africa, for one week and were taken to the centres in order to visit their premises and meet with the staff there. There was also time to visit and explore some of the sights in Cape Town, such as taking a guided walking tour around the city, going up the world-famous Table mountain, going on a Safari, enjoying a sunset boat cruise and visiting the Cape of Good Hope. Most days were rounded off by a visit to one of Cape Town's many world-class restaurants. It was a fantastic opportunity for EduSA to showcase the City of Cape Town and for the schools to present themselves to the agents who were visiting. The most common comment from the agents was that they had fallen in love with Cape Town and that the city went way beyond their expectations. ![]() QE has completed its latest run of missionsQE has completed its latest run of missions after travelling to four capital cities in Europe. From Paris we went to Madrid, then to Zurich and finally to Rome.Altogether 22 schools took part in missions that they selected ‘à la carte’ from the four destinations that had been arranged for them. Many schools were represented by different members of staff, and they travelled one by one to centres where altogether they met a total of 87 agents. Two schools took part in all missions – they were ILS in Nottingham and Ability Education in Sydney. This photo shows Judy Loren of Excel English at the Zurich mission. Madrid proved to be the busiest day with 38 agents, and Zurich the quietest with 11. Feedback received so far describes ‘Quality agents’ at all the four centres. More to follow..... ![]() AND THE BEET GOES ON…This month, BEET Language Centre celebrates its 30th birthday. ITTC, its teacher training division, celebrates its 25th. The two organisations merged in 2001. “This marriage of expertise and talent has made BEET and ITTC one of best places anywhere in the world to study and learn,” says Richard Davies, head of training at ITTC.From humble beginnings in a Charminster house with just three students, BEET now has a 45-strong staff base, including teachers and trainers, and at peak times more than 450 students and trainee teachers on its Nortoft Road site. Last year more than 2,000 students came through the doors of its campus – a former Victorian primary school, which has been thoroughly modernised over the years, and has doubled in size. The school is now one very few private schools in the UK to be fully equipped with the latest in interactive learning technology with Promethean software, following a £50,000 upgrade. Our teachers have embraced this new technology and the students have all commented how much extra value this adds to the lessons. Date Added: October 19 2009 |
CSLI wins Canadian Consumers` Choice Award in VancouverCSLI is proud to announce that we have once again been selected by the Canadian Consumers` Choice Awards as top language school in British Columbia, Canada! The Consumers` Choice Award is unique in North America, as the winners are determined by consumers and not by a panel of judges. It covers a broad range of categories of interest to the public and to the business community, with the purpose of publicly identifying those establishments which have been voted by consumers as being their choice for excellence. For recipients, this award is not only the crowning achievement of their efforts, but more importantly it also represents the most valuable reward of all, the knowledge that they have earned the trust and loyalty of consumers. We have always been proud of our dedication to providing our students with amazing study abroad experiences and this has always been reward enough for all of our staff. However, it is always nice to receive a pat on the back for a job well done! We would like to thank everyone for making CSLI such a special family to be part of and the #1 language school in Vancouver! If you would like some more information on these awards and what they mean, please check out the Consumers` Choice Award website at: www.ccaward.com/new/ce/home.html and as always you can get more information about our school at www.csli.comDate Added: October 7 2009 |
